This course is an introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering
a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.
It can either be taken
as a stand-alone course or integrated into the two-day Level 2 course.
Assumed Knowledge.....
None
Duration.......................1 day
Minimum Age ...................8 yrs (candidates under 16 will receive an
endosed certificate)
Course Content...............Preparation of boat and crew,
boat handling, picking up and securing to a mooring buoy, leaving and coming alongside, being towed.
Ability After the Course.... Be able to drive a powerboat under supervision.

Minimum age ...........................12 ( candidates under 16 will receive an endorsed certificate)
Course content.......................... Launch and recovery
of boat, high and low speed manouvering, leaving and coming alongside, anchoring and using a mooring buoy, man overboard drill,
use of gps, basic navigation, tides, effect of wind and tide, IRPCS ( rules of the road), current legislation and best practise,
ICC assessment.
Ability
at end of course............... To be able to skipper a powerboat safely in the right conditions by day taking into account,
conditions and the limitations of crew and craft.
